My grandpa Erik Aravirta worked for Riihimäen lasi Oy from the 1950s, and he founded several glazing companies in North Karelia in the mid-1970s. Lasilinkki Oy was founded in 1983 in Kuopio, and my mother Arja Aravirta, who had already worked in the glass industry, started to run the business. The operations were expanded in the early 1990s, with more of a focus on the artistic and interior design glass to support the traditional glazing business. After testing my wings at the service of others, I began to feel the pull towards the glazing business, and so I took the helm in 2007.
We have now mapped a solid foundation of expert knowledge, which is manifested in our operations and work to this day. We bear this knowledge with pride and wish to turn glass into a tangible and functional part of the everyday life of people.
These issues and all our expertise and love for glass gave birth to the Essis collection. The
Essis collection makes the choice easier for consumers and showcases the various uses of glass. We use lots of recycled glass in our products, which in our hands is moulded into shelves, doors, lighting fixtures and the glazing of partitions.
We are involved in various events and wish to foster the various uses of glass among consumers as well as professionals.
As our grandpa once taught us, we understand the versatility of glass, respecting the old, but giving it a new innovative edge. Listening to the client in everything we do.
