“I boldly contacted Comissioner General”
Kuopio based, family-owned glass company’s CEO and third generation entrepreneur, Essi Sundman, contacted boldly Finland’s Comissioner General, Industrial Counsellor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Severi Keinälä.
“I contacted boldly Finland’s Comissioner after the first press releases was published, because the pavilion is called ‘Lumi’ and I thought that our handcrafted glass walls that look like ice, would suite in the Snow Cape perfectly.”
Bold contact was worth it and company is participating expo in Finland’s pavilion.
“We handcraft three large glass sliding doors. Patterns are designed by Gregor Turnsek from JKMM Architects. Patterns are handcrafted. First we made a mold on the bottom of the glass melting owen and glass was then melted on it.
Also the handles are being handcrafted by melting the glass”, told Lasilinkki’s CEO Essi Sundmand.
“A big opportunity and possibility for us to be part of this project.
Internationalization has been started in our company already before. Cooperation with Business Finland and JKMM Architects has been running superbly and has been very educational and fruitful. We are exited to see what doors this World Expo will open for us.
I hope Finnish design and our handcrafted glass products generates lots of interest.” Essi Sundman hopes.
